Our Owner & Managing Director, Ian holds 20+ years of experience working with all makes and models and is highly experienced in the 4WD market, working with repairs and upgrades.

Ian’s favourite part of working in the automotive industry is diagnosing faults, upgrading and building vehicles, and seeing the joy on a customers’ face when they see their vehicle repaired or upgraded.

When Ian’s not at work…

He loves spending time with the family, getting out to 4WD and camp, and adventuring.

Mark

Senior Automotive Technician

Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology

Mark has been a qualified technician in the automotive trade for 30 years. He has extensive training and experience in working on all vehicle makes, models, and fuel types which is complemented by his knowledge of suspension, tyres and wheel alignments.

Mark’s favourite aspects of the job are 4WD upgrades, 12V electrical work, problem solving, and the everyday work — like brakes and clutches. He also loves the workshop banter, Geebung’s Got Talent, anyone?

When Mark’s not at work…

He loves exploring our awesome country, fishing and camping, and getting out to enjoy some live music with a pub feed.

Kayne

Apprentice

Currently studying a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology

Kayne has a keen interest in cars and how they work and brings with him varied experience across the automotive industry. He enjoys spending his time around cars and learning these new skills.

Kayne’s favourite part of the job is working on 4WD upgrades and the workshop banter with the boys.

When Kayne’s not at work…

He loves getting out and 4WDing and camping, or working on his Nissan Patrol.

Ty is a car enthusiast who enjoys working on all makes and models of vehicles from older classic vehicles to newer cars, including hybrid and electric vehicles. He’s committed to optimising your vehicle’s performance and ensuring safety and reliability for all customers.

His favourite work is performing vehicle upgrades and installing new accessories, vehicle servicing and fault finding, and getting vehicles back on the road after a breakdown.

Tyler has over 10 years of experience in the automotive industry, specialising in parts interpretation, workshop and service coordination, and customer care. She works closely with technicians and suppliers to keep the workshop running smoothly, while ensuring customers feel informed, confident every step of the way, and well looked after. Her approachable nature, along with her friendly, organised, and hands-on experience, makes her a trusted point of contact.

I was initially quoted approximately $780 and proceeded with the service based on that estimate. When I collected the vehicle, I was pleasantly surprised to be informed that the actual cost was only $445.35. They could easily have charged me the original quoted amount, and I would have no clue. Instead, they charged me the true cost of the work. In my experience, this reflects an honest and trustworthy business, and I genuinely appreciate their integrity.

Got my car serviced there a couple months ago, and the price was super reasonable. Today, I had an issue with the drive belt they replaced during that service. Took it back to Newman Mechanical, and they fixed it for free. My old mechanics probably would've charged me again, so it was awesome that Newman Mechanical didn't. 10/10 - Found my new go-to mechanic for sure.

I’ve been using Newman Mechanical for a few years now, after purchasing my 4WD, and Ian has always gone above and beyond to address any mechanical issues I bring to him. Since I now work in Miles and have a sporadic roster, Ian has been extremely accommodating, making sure my vehicle is safe and reliable for any travels. They consistently deliver outstanding service. The team is always friendly, professional, and incredibly accommodating. The team at Newman Mechanical have been absolutely fantastic. Worth every one of these 5 stars. Have tried several car service places and Newman Mechanical are by far the best. Very accommodating, professional, friendly, timely, thorough and knowledgeable. Car service was completed in a timely way, communication was great. No rip offs, just good service and attention to detail. My car was rather grubby when I dropped it off (sorry guys) and when I collected it she was clean and fresh and running so sweet. Many thanks. I’ll be a regular customer from here on!

Ian and the team went so far above and beyond for my car, taking the battery apart, calling around the country for specialised parts and driving the car around for hours to diagnose and test. Having them resolve it was even more of a relief after the manufacturer (Nissan) completely washed their hands of me! Very reasonable pricing and a great small business to support. I have taken Land Cruiser 80 to Newman Mechanical numerous times now when I needed the experts to do the work that I couldn’t do. Trust me when I say, I love my car, and it took a lot of research to find a place where I was confident my car would be looked after. It is so hard to find an honest and trustworthy mechanic these days!! Let alone a whole team when you move interstate and don’t know anybody. The price is fair, the work well worth paying for and the service is beyond satisfactory. I’m not a big fan of leaving my vehicles overnight anywhere I don’t know, but I can easily say I trust Dean and the boys. Its now going on 4 years that I’ve been taking my cars there and the consistency is impeccable. Asking for ball park figures is almost unpredictable as well but they have always been accurate with estimates and will consult with you regardless to ensure you achieve whatever the best outcome is for your safety and budget. My car always comes back cleaner that when it went in as well: And that’s complimentary. Can’t recommend them enough.
